Thank you for visiting our Stamford Cyberwise Campaign Page

This year, we are on a mission to improve the way children and young people interact with their smartphones in order to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

We need you, to get on board - Our hope is to encourage the wider parenting community of Stamford to support each other and our children in collectively agreeing to our pledge:

The Stamford Cyberwise Parent Pledge:

  1. No Smartphones for Primary aged children
  2. No social media until at least 13
  3. Parental Controls until 16

We only process your name so that in our response to you, we can address you appropriately.

We only process your child's school so that we can collate results for the school.

We only process your email so that we can respond to you.

We only process your child's year group so that we can collate results.

Please help us, spread the word

Smartphones are highly addictive devices that have a significant impact on our children’s mental health by:

  • Reducing attention spans and academic performance
  • Reducing the quality and quantity of sleep
  • Exposing children and young people to harmful content
  • Discouraging traditional play and interaction
  • Exacerbating friendship issues and bullying behaviours

The results of a recent huge study of young adults showed that the younger they were when they got their first smartphone, the worse their mental health is today.

We want to offer a compassionate non judgemental approach and encourage parents to support each-other to hold off on giving their children phones: reducing peer pressure, increasing parent power and giving young people the best chance of thriving.

  • "...This was a great session, thank you, you two! Much more work from us two on the emotion side of things with our daughter, but we’re well chuffed that we’re doing most of the other bits, so the guilt-smugness seesaw has been balanced..."

  • "...The children acted maturely, sensitively and with great interest, which was a reflection of the way that the presenters dealt with the subject matter. I know that the Year 6 staff were very pleased and impressed with both mornings and I would highly recommend them to any school covering this aspect of the curriculum..."

  • "...Would you mind please passing on my thanks for the videos – my husband and I have used some of the strategies and they work so well! I can’t believe how much I get out of our son when we play the games suggested - It’s given us such an understanding of his world. Many thanks for organising this… the videos have made such a difference to us as a family..."

  • "...I found our session with The Conversation very fun and I most enjoyed the art with Tony because we were learning that people have different races and that we have to all be ok with it because we are not all the same. We learned all about Protected Characteristics and that we all have them and that it is ok to have them...."

  • "...Hugely valuable - I have a book full of notes, now I just need to put them into practice. I think this approach of working directly with parents is a great way of getting your message out there and supporting kids. We can then reinforce what organisations like yours and teachers are communicating to them..."
